Ho hum, what has happened since the last time I posted. Well I did the Pass Plus theory session, which was grossely missnamed. A more accurate name would be the Pass Plus Terror session. I don't want to go into it because I don't really want to think about it. I'll just say that there are some things you can't un-see, and I will not be doing the driving sessions. Or driving again for a long time. There was also the Manda and Danielle visit, Debra coming home and the barbeque, which was lovely. Though at one point mum started pitching a fit because I *gasp* marinated her chicken in yoghurt (with honey and mustard). She, apparently, does not like yoghurt. Never mind the fact that I spend a lot more time reading about food, viewing shows about food and experimenting with food than she does. Never mind the fact that yoghurt is one of the best substances for imparting tenderness and flavour to meats. Never mind that when you cook the meat it doesn't actually taste of yoghurt... *sigh* Mum does like to give opinions and advice to you about things she knows little to nothing about when you actually are relatively knowledgeable. I bet if she met Bill Gates she'd impart to him her wisdom about computers, running successful companies and general wealth accumulation... I also succesfully made pastry! Hurrah! I made a strawberry and rhubarb pie. Pretty good, I'd never thought about putting strawberries into pie before. I'd always just considered strawberries to be things that you put uncooked onto tarts, sprinkle uncooked onto pancakes or just eat. But don't cook. They do work surprisingly well cooked though, and the sweetness is a nice balance to the sharpness of rhubarb. Also saw the new Harry Potter movie. Quite enjoyed it because a lot of it was suprisingly (and intentionally) funny. However I can't see people who haven't read the books enjoying it that much. Kind of like with all the films, the best purpose is to act as a kind of fun and visually exciting reminder of the books. Otherwise you'd need to look around on the internet for bits of backstory and to make the plot seem a little more coherent. And in other news I'm slightly put out. I have had plans for saurday to have wine and cheese with Sophie - one of my favourite ways to spend time (seriously, it sounds kind of nice, huh? But it's actually always amazingly hilarious, with laughter, tears, nostalgia and general joy)) It was decided that the little sisters (Debra, Hannah) could come too, which would also be great. However it's rapidly becoming a party as mum has decided that she'll come too to hang out with Val and that as everybody else is going to be there, Dad will come too and hang out with Brian. And, depending on when he goes home, Debra's boyfriend will have to come too. And this is all very fine and lovely but it's not what I had planned. I'm not going to be able to have a proper catch up with Sophie in the way I had planned. There are certain things I want to talk about that I'm not going to be able to go into with a massive crowd of people (that includes the dads). Grrrr.

I graduated today. I can't believe it.

I'll post more about everything else in a bit, but for now, I just need to sleep. My head and heart are so full today, because I made it this far. My life now is nothing how I imagined it would be when I first decided to come to Manchester, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It means that I never could have imagined what amazing things would be in store for me, and what my life would become.
I'm happy. I've had, on the whole, a wonderful three years here, and I'm happier now than I was in September 2006. Thank you for sticking by me. Hasn't it been a brilliant ride?

The two people who are my constants in the World Of Warcraft community up and switched servers without telling me, and now they aren't replying to my messages. I feel a break from WoW coming on.
Once I found out that Debbie Rowe lives in the same town as me I found exactly where she lives so when the press starts pestering her about the Jackson kids I can see it in person. On the 4th of July I visited the Jackson family home in Encino (my home town) I can’t really explain what the atmosphere was like outside the house, but I did see Jessie Jackson and Janet Jackson leaving the house.

Rest in peace, Rusty. At least I was with him when it happened, he wasn't alone.

Buzzcocks - Everybody's Happy Nowadays |

Today I have a lovely iced coffee and my results! Hurrah! And to add to the hurrahness, I got a 2:1 overall, which is perfectly acceptable. And I've done better on the whole than I did last semester. If I can keep up the improvement curve I might be in with a shot of getting a higher 2:1 next year. I'd like to aim for a first but that's kind of unrealistic if I want to eat, sleep and sometimes see my friends. You know, enjoy my life... Speaking of firsts, you may notice I got another one this semester, for Culture. It was possibly my favourite essay, so that's lovely. And was also marked by my dissertation tutor, as was Poshumanism where I was only 3 marks off a first. So I could aim for a first in my dissertation and 2:1s in everything else and be very happy. It's kind of annoying being 3 marks off a first for 2 modules, and 2 marks off in one. So close! But a miss is as good as a mile. Oh well, I'm still very pleased :). One 2:2, nine 2:1s and two firsts is a pretty good result for such a slacker as myself.
Autumn Semester: READING POST/COLONIAL FICTION - 65 THE SKY: MYTHS AND MEANINGS - 72 CULTURE AND THE CITY - 64 THE FILM MUSICAL - 61 READING - 64 SPEED - 56
Spring Semester: POSTHUMANISM: THEORIES AND FICTIONS - 67 CULTURE & IDENTITY - 64 COLONIAL AND POSTCOLONIAL LOVE - 67 MUSIC AND NATION - 68 CULTURE - 71 GENDER & CULTURE - 60
I celebrated last night by sharing a massive steak with dad (seriously, he claimed it weighed a pound. Must have come from a big freaking cow...) and, despite the heat, having a nice hot chocolate before bed with a tiny splash of brandy. I'll celebrate more on Wednesday when Manda and Danielle get here. It's looking up! In uke news: I have managed to successfully tune my uke and can almost kind of play Sittin' on the Dock of a Bay. Though some of the songs in my books are definitely dodgy... the chords do not sound right at all. In cooking news: I had a go at making blue cheese crackers. I made ten tiny little bitesize crackers from the dough, they were yummy enough for me to scoff them all before they even cooled, so they are a success. Dough has gone in the freezer to be sliced and baked for cheese&wine times later on this month. Good times!
